What is a Mandolin?

A mandolin is a manual slicer. The 'primeval mandolin' is actually centuries old. In the Netherlands they call it a vegetable 'slice'. The word 'mandolin' actually comes from the industrial kitchen. Which is used as the instrument is played. Hence the name actually. The Börner mandolin has a blade in the shape of a V and this at an angle of 45 degrees.
